2010 Mishawaka Person of the Year
Award presented at the MBA Annual Meeting & Dinner
along with Business of the Year
Mishawaka, IN, February 18, 2010 – The Mishawaka Business Association (MBA) board of directors
today announced the selection of Robert Stephens as the 2010 Mishawaka Person of the Year. The
award was presented at the 2010 MBA Annual Meeting and Dinner at Windsor Park Conference Center in
Mishawaka.
The award was presented by George Fobe, who was last year's recipient of the award. Raised in Michiana, Bob
Stephens brought his talents "back home" in 1993, where he began developing attractive residential
neighborhoods along the St. Joseph River. The popular communities of Barrington Estates, Estates East at
Barrington, Highland Village on the river, Ironworks of Mishawaka, and the Townes at Kamm Island Park are all
part of Bob's developmental portfolio. In Mishawaka alone, Bob has developed nearly 300 acres, bringing the
concept of "neighbor" back into neighborhoods.
The naming of Nyloncraft, Inc. as the 2010 MBA Business of the Year also highlighted the evening.
The award was presented to Dennis Wasikowski by Joel Laidig, President of the MBA. The MBA honors
Nyloncraft for its many years of outstanding service to the City of Mishawaka and the community in general. The
Company employs slightly less than 300 associates in Mishawaka with another 90 at its plant in Jonesville,
Michigan. Nyloncraft also has an office in Southfield, Michigan to service its Detroit based customers. The
Mishawaka work force is represented by Teamsters Local 364. The Company and the union have worked well
over the years combining efforts to support such community activities as United Way, March of Dimes Walk
America and the Mishawaka Grand Prix.
Christopher Murphy, President and CEO of 1st Source Bank presented the evening’s keynote address. Mr. Murphy
talked about the community involvement of 1st Source Bank. He also talked about the current economic
situation of our country and a cautiously optimistic look towards the future.
